IT IS FINISHED! IT IS FINALLY FINISHED!

THE TRAP ARENA

After 2 Months of work, and annyoing pretty much EVERYONE on this server about redstone, one frustrated breakdown and several barrells of coffee, my mamoth-project is finally done!

If you liked my TDM - Arena #1 you're gonna love the new one. If you didn't like the first one, you might even get to like the second one!


here are the "stats" of the project:
Name: Traparena
Size: big (over 100x50)
Designed for: 2vs2 or 3vs3. 1vs1 possible, but might get kinda boring. NO FREE FOR ALL POSSIBLE
Possible Game modes: KingofTheHill-Deathmatch. [Future thought: including CTF Support]
Progress: 100% Finished!
Location: the arena is near the big CTF Arena UPDATE: The Arena now has a warp!
/warp traparena , take a look and examine what's already done!


What is this thing?
For the General Idea of Tactical Deathmatch, please visit my first Arena, which is located near spawn, and read the rules in my thread "Tactical Deathmatch Arena"

How will the second Arena be different to the first one?
It will differ A LOT from the first arena. here are the main points:
- This Arena is much bigger, and features MUCH more complicated mechanisms than the first one
- This Arena is based on Teamplay, Free For All is not possible anymore, only 2 Teams versus each other.
- This time there will be NO COMBAT allowed AT ALL inside the Arena. The damage will be done entirely by Traps.

Damn, now you got me hooked. How's it gonna work?

Well this is the Basic Idea:
The Map Consists of 3 Areas: 2 of them "Belong" to the teams, they are their "Base". between this two, theres the "No mans Land", aka "the Hills".

The No-Mans-Land features 3 "Hills". Well you know how "King of the HIll" works ,don't you?
Claim the Hill, stand on the pressure plate (the one with your team's colour of course) and hold it long enough to get rewarded!
Well, standing on a pressure Plate for 10 seconds shouldn't be to hard when no Combat is allowed, shouldn't it?. Leave that part to me, standing up there is living Hell if your enemy isn't to bad!

So what reward do i get from standing on a stupid Pressure Plate for 10 secs?
Trap Points!
1 Trap Point for holding the east hill or the west hill (10 seconds)
2 Trap Points for holding the hill in the middle of the arena! (15 seconds)

Each Team can "store" a maximum of 2 Points

What the Hell will i be doing with trap points?
Well, guess what, you can activate traps with it!

Once you've got 1 or 2 Points, get back in your area! you can "spend" your Points by activating deadly traps with them, which will make it harder for your enemy to survive!
Simply walk back into your part of the arena, pick one of the Buttons placed there, and listen to the sound of your enemies crying!
after you activated a trap, you lose the amount of TP's that it costs.

So, what traps exactly are we talking about?

This is the current scale of things that i plan to include / have already included in the arena:

1TP Arrow-Rain, No-Mans-Land Installed and working!
Fill the No-Mans land with a deadly salve of arrows. Be aware though! you could hurt your teammates with this!
Every Dispenser fires exactly 3 Arrows. Be careful! There is at least 1 Dispenser aimed at every Hill! This can do devasting damage to unaware Hill-Capturers.

2Tp Arrow Salve, Enemy Territory Installed and working!
Dispensers shoot a short salve of Arrows in to the enemy territorry. Each dispenser shoots exactly 2 arrows, and it covers nearly every single block of your enemys area! 2-4 Hearts Damage!
Changed TP Costs from 1 to 2

2TP Long-time-Arrow-Rain. Enemy Territory was too strong, i had to cancel this one!
Same thing as above, just that we are talking about 4 or 5 arrows now.

1TP Crushers, front part Installed and working!

A small passage of the Enemy territorry will be harder to pass for half a minute or so. The "Crushers" are Piston- Based walls that open and close every 2 seconds. get stuck between them and you loose half a heart!

2Tp Crushers, lower part Installed and working!
Same thing as above, in a bigger area

1TPWater flood! Installed and working!
Flood the Main room with water for a couple of seconds! This doesn't do any damage, but makes moving there very complicated, and standing on a hill suddenly gets a much higher value. Use this in the right moment to make sure you dominate the No-mans-land. Lasts 25seconds

1TPFence Installed and working!
Pull out a Fence from the floor, that blocks your Enemies side of the Middle Room. This makes it easier for you to claim the valuable Middle-Hill that will reward you with 2 TPs! Note thought that the Fence will be gone after a couple of seconds. Also, this doesn't do any damage

2TP Lava Floor! Installed and working!

Part of the floor in enemy territorry will be flooded with lava for a couple of second.
However, this Trap is indeed, very deadly, espacially if you don't get to the water pit in time, but it is easily spotable as the floor opens up before the Lava flows in.

West Small HillInstalled and working!

East Small HillInstalled and working!

Both Middle HillsInstalled and working!

Waiting rooms/Game start buttonsInstalled and working!

Even Though the server is dead righ now, this doesn't stop me from going on with the redstone wiring. I can do most of this stuff without having pistons ready!

Also, the first trap is online and seems to be fully functional!

But i have 1 little Problem: The first Traps are working now, but i need at least 1 other player to test them with me. since the Server is dead, this might be kinda hard.
So if anyone wants to have a look, or maybe test some stuff with me, come online, /warp traparena, and maybe you could help me out with some stuff!

I still play on a regular basis, but we may be on opposeing time sceduals. I was holding back on checking it untill it was finished for maximum impressment value.
It would appear from the ambitious nature of the project that you are rather adept at redstone wireing so I'll be looking at you if I hit any snaggs on my projects ;)
I'd offer to assist on your wireing but I know it doesnt quite work like that... we need to have complete awareness of all our wireing in most cases. Still, if you hit any brain farts I'm probably the one to call.
If you see me online, I'll assist in any testing you need or whatever.

Thank you for helping me out!

By the way if anybody else still plays, I am currently begging for Donations. The Project is going on quite well, but i'm really running out of Redstone. Due to the complex wiring, and moreover the size of the arena, i need about 4 Stacks of Redstone for 1 Trap. Crusher-Traps will need about 2 stacks more, and each hill consumes about 5 stacks.
So you can see that i really need redstone right now. If you have any, even if you play on a different server, i would really appreciate if you just pass by the server for a moment, do ./warp traparena, and donate some stuff into the "donation chest" located there.
leave a post here if you donatet something, i will put you on the "Sponsors" list.

Hey Everybody!

First of all, i want to do a big shoutout to Everyone who has supported me on this HUGE Project.
You can see the list of all the Helpers/Sponsors above, in the First Post. Altough i'd like to give my Special Thanks to pixiebitch, for moral Support, Pest, for helping me with some redstone stuff, and Der_Jakal who has granted me access to tons of recources.

Now heres the thing:
The Arena is mostly done by now. There are 3 Traps that i still have to finish, and some infrastructure that has to be done, like the "waiting rooms".
But i can't finish this thing alone. For two reasons:
1) My encouragement to work on this project died a week ago or so. I just can't see all the f***ing Redstone anymore. I got some problems with compact designs, and space to install the traps, which seem to stand in my way, and i just don't have the energy to THINK about a solution.
2) My Redstone, Diamond, Gold and Iron Ressources are complety dried out. Now i've still got acces to all of Jakal's stuff, but i've already taken more then enough from him and don't want him to pay everything for me. So i went on a BIG mining trip using my last diamond pickaxe and mushroom stews, got quite a lot of stuff together, made the ABSOLUTE BEGINNER MISTAKE TO DIG STRAIGHT BELOW, fell in Lava and died.

Now i know i'm crying around here, but the thing is, as you all probably know this situation, it's killing the encouragement to continue to play.
I need Help with this project. Be it donations, or just somebody who might help me out with the Redstone wiring. It is close to get finished, and until now, everything in the arena works perfectly. in Theory, it would already be playable, but i don't want to open it before the really fance stuff, like flooding the arena and making a lava floor are installed.

So please, before 1.8 Starts and this server completly dies, if you are a blocky, minecraft angel, please let me know here in this thread if you have the time to support the project even MORE ( I KNOW it's asked a lot).

I wish I could say I had time dreads, but I just started school with 15 credit hours of class which means about 45 hours of homework, also I'm working 24 hours a week on top of that. Sadly, I have 0 time for minecraft anymore. One day, in the distant future I'm gonna return to Maxloader.nl, and on that day I'm not going to remember how much stuff I had in my vault, what I AM going to remember is my cool house, the giant pumpkin I built, and your EPIC arena that I helped donate to even though I didn't have time to help build. so don't feel like you took too much stuff. if you have to you can completely empty the vault as long as it gets the arena done. I kinda like the idea of starting from scratch anyway. so I hereby grant you all of my stuff.

I can finish traps, just be very clear on EXACTLY what you want to happen and show how to wire into the existing systems.
