1. Ventrillo Server for people that have a mic. It would be kwl but i think it costs money so i doubt we will get that...

2. Competition to see who can built the best ______. We should do like monthly competitions for building the best of something. The winner should be decided by all mods and admins in the new section and it could be showcased in a "Hall of Fame" with a warp to it, or instead of hall of fame idea we could just put it near spawn and maybe clean up spawn a bit more and maybe get a range of protection on it to keep some scenery and so that having something in spawn would be a privilege.

If we put all the winners in the hall of fame it'd have to be less than monthly, could get crowded fast. But I like that idea. For starters how about best giant plant? We have Max's tree of life, const and my Pumpking, and Pest's CACTAR all in a row going north of spawn lol.

Skype name is the same as forum/MC name. Please say who you are as well

Do note that Skype is suitable for having a conversation with a few people together.
It's not a limitation of the program but it's that it's not push to talk like Ventrilo which means everyones microphone is broadcasting at all times, which can be noisy like hell.

that is a really good point. I'm gonna try to check and see if there's a way to set skype to push to talk. because that would be much nicer, but it also seems like it would be a pain to all switch over to Ventrillo when it's pretty clear that a lot of us already have skype. Unless everyone else already has the other program too, in which case I'd be happy to switch.
EDIT: I thought I found something that would allow this but apparently push to talk is not possible with skype.

The only way i found to do that is to bind a mute button, but that makes it 'push to not talk'.
Not so convenient.

If anyone wants to in-game skype me, that's fine, just add thewanderingecentric.
I'm not often able to actually accept calls, though, due to surroundings.

I'd rather have something like Ventrilo or Mumble http://mumble.sourceforge.net. If Max doesn't want to add another app running on his server (and slowing down MC), I'd be willing to host a Mumble on a linux box I have available. (US West Coast - 15ms ping / 40Mbps download / 7.5Mbps upload)

I think it'd be a huge improvement to have voice chat in game. Perhaps Notch will include it before the final release in November

I am not running other apps on the minecraft server, its just a clean install with only the minecraft server on it and an sql database for bb.
I would like to keep it that way

Well... I tried to set up a mumble server... but I could never get my port-forwarding to work correctly.

i can help you with that via teamviewer if you like, i did that with sooneey's router as well.

Port forwarding is a huge mess, took me 2 hours to do xD

Mostly because I had to guess the password on my router account thingy because I couldn't remember it. (Yes I got it right after a while)
