I think you made an very wise decision max, just a few questions, do you mean you will keep the old map ? of will you start a new map ? And for your doubt about the OP rights, i think this new vanilla server will attract new players, and that could mean griefers, maybe its best to have at least a few OP's, people you personally have chosen to be trustworthy and who won't use there "power" for there own good. When the horses update hits i will put the server in 100% vanilla mode.
This has pros and cons:
pros:
- Faster and more stable server
- no more hassle with outdated bukkit and/or bukkit mods
- always the newest minecraft version
- for me personnaly it saves alot of hassle configuring mods and permissions the right way
cons:
- no more dynmap
- no more ranks (i am still deciding who to give OP rights, no-one or admins only)
- no more commands other than those of vanilla
